Since moving to Singapore — almost two years ago, that is — I haven’t had as much time to play as I used to. Most probably because there are many things which are more accessible for me here.

The result is that the hubby had been trying to lure me to play again, since he’s worried that I would be overly exhausted.

But actually, the first reason why I had stopped playing is because there is hardly any game which catches my attention at all. The hubby bought me Neverwinter Nights 2 last April, and I haven’t even finished it. I love the first NWN, and basically the sequel is pretty much the same — only the graphics suck. Don’t you think that they could do better than taht given a few years of development?

Well I am that vain. I only play fantasy based RPGs, in which the characters are pretty and all. Nowadays there are not so many choices available, so mostly I should be satisfied with MMORPG.

Commercial MMORPGs are, of course, better — if you don’t mind paying the subscription. I planned to buy LOTR once, after they bombarded my inbox with their ads, saying that it’d cost me only USD 9.99. It turned out that they didn’t accept Singaporean credit cards, and if I was still interested, I could call them on the phone to let them handle my credit card transaction manually. So much hassle! The game is good though.

But then I prefer Korean MMORPGs. They usually come with beautiful graphics and pretty manga-like characters. And I love the way they look. Remember Martial Heroes, Silkroad Online, 9 Dragons or Granado Espada? Plus they’re mostly free — or used to be, at least.

It’s just that you must excuse their bad English and the lack of quests. It was much notable in Martial Heroes, where I had to literally kill hundreds of thousands of scorpions to get to level 78 — just because there was no quest! Silly me, I still did it though.

Last week the hubby installed another Korean MMORPG called Atlantica Online. I only started to play yesterday, and so far I kinda like this one. The fighting system is turn- based, which is good — especially since you must have henchmen.

They make one good improvement from any other games I’ve played. They have this “auto-move” button which will lead players to the destination of their quests. It’s a very useful feature, thank you!

It’s just strange that lootings can only be done during the fight too.

I still can’t say too much about this game, but it sure looks pretty. I guess it’s worth playing for a while lah.
