Thanks for the reminder, Leonie. You’re right, I shouldn’t generalize people. I didn’t mean to, but I know sometimes it’s difficult to decide only from words.
Anyways, I never said anything about the culture of stealing other people’s spouses, did I? Such women exist everywhere, I’m afraid, regardless of race. I was just telling it as I knew people who happened to do it in where I lived. You’re lucky to have come from different social circle, as you said. But not everyone gets that privilege. I think it’s like the case of contract marriage. It’s unlawful, it’s not our culture, yet it exists in our country. It’d be difficult not to mention the place, if we’re to talk about that subject, wouldn’t it?

you shouldn´t generalize people. even if you´re just ranting, you should have just referred them as ´the women in that shop´and ´one of my girlfriends´ instead of ´indonesian women´. because there´s just too many people (or women, to fit our context) in indonesia, and not all of them are poor, narrow minded with no overseas experience. plenty of people in my circle are the exact opposite.
and no, i´ve never heard of the ´stealing other people´s spouses´ culture.

Hi Indah, I am actually Indonesian , although I am not living in Indonesia. I agree with you, we Indonesians are too amazed by the differences of people. Surely a woman like ayu azhari is not that common, and I should not think that she represents Indonesian women. The post is just a rant, nothing more

You’re not indonesian right? Well, I am. I would say that you gotta understand how media in asia really do emphasize the superior of white people. How globalization, hollywood, etc etc greatly affect us day by day. I mean, when i was living in asia white people, black people are rare sight. I got really blown away seeing the distinct sight. And then I moved to the Netherlands where you pretty much see white people everywhere. And guess what? it all became too common and I started to look for something different again (in this case, asian). I don’t know, I guess this is the habit you get when you’re actually single, hahaha. I wouldn’t say Indonesian women are bitches, though. We just tend to get TOO amazed by the differences of people.

Anyways, Mika Tramp muslim eh? I wouldn’t really believe that. I’m quite sure that Ayu is just stating that to save herself from harsh discrimination from the media. Of course as an actress who has quite aged (well, not really, but she isn’t entirely new either) she has to try hard to keep her popularity.

Hey,you`ve got a point. I think that saying grass is always greener on the other side is true in this case. You`re lucky that you could get a broader view by living abroad. But those girls may be deluded by whatever fairytales they read about white guys. I`m not saying that it`s true or not, but we shouldn`t forget that white guys are human beings. Like any others, some are nice and some are bad. I`m very fortunate to marry a wonderful man, but it`s just not right to judge by his color. Though I know many still do. I`m not pointing any fingers to anyone, but such girls do exist, also in neighboring countries like Malaysia and Singapore. Otherwise why would they have that term sarong party girls?

I agree with your comments.. I have couple of Latino boyfriends in Indonesia and they are soccer players.. When I go out with my bf.. girls disturb them like you describe.. it is jungle here in Indonesia.. but nevertheless they are all “nothing” anyway… let them all envy us…
